The Heart of Things is a game of relentless time-travel. One player is the Oracle, tasked with preventing a terrible doom that afflicts their people. The other is the Companion, who owes the Oracle a great debt and will follow them where they go. If the Oracle fails in their quest, they follow the Road of Threads back to the start and begin anew - until they have lost themself or healed their people.
